100 Years Ago (1895)

Wm. Reseburg has sold his farm of 120 acres in the Town of Reseburg to A. R. Rimenschneider for $2,400.
 
C. N. Bentley and son Charles of Freeport, Ill and Fred Schultz of Schultz, Wis., returned to their homes on Mon. after a week’s hunt, with nine deer to their credit.
 
Early on Tues. morning, Nov. 12, 1985, Laura K. Rasmussen, 40, beloved wife of Nils P. Hansen, died of hemorrhage at her home in this village.
 
The improvements made by the W. C. Line in this village during the past month are about completed and agent H. A. Culler moved into the new depot building on Tues.  The passing track has been extended about thirty rods in length and a new station track laid; which serves to make things more convenient.
 
Mathia Gruber of Stanley and Miss Grace Ramer of the Town of Thorp, were married at the Catholic Church, Monday morning.
 
75 Years Ago (1920)
 
Butlerville – Mr. and Mrs. I. H. Butler are the proud parents of a baby girl.
 
Wheeler’s Corner – Arthur and Edward Borck and Geo. Thielke have gone to work at Glidden. – Hugo Roesler, Frank Hedler, Geo. Hanson and Riney Daniels have gone to camp near Diamond Lake.
 
Peter Phillippi sold the Soo Hotel property to Jas. Norton last week.
 
Rural Route mail carrier, Guy R. Leiby has purchased the fomer (former) Gorman residence property from Jos. Sheblak.
 
Emil W. Ehlert, who formerly owned and operated the Southpoint Cheese Factory for the past year has owned a factory near Maiden Rock which he also sold recently, has purchased the Pine Grove Cheese Factory 2 ½ miles southeast of Stanley of C. Wilcox and took possession last week.
 
A very pleasant wedding took place at the Yellow River Sheep Ranch, on Oct. 27, 1920.  Mr. Anton Hagen of Stanley and Miss Helen Farmer of the Sheep Ranch were the contracting partiers.
 
Mrs. Frank Plucinski, 60, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Chippewa Falls on Tues. Nov. 2nd, after an illness of several weeks.
 
50 Years Ago (1945)

 
Mary Ann, the eight month old baby daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Persak of the Town of Thorp, passed away at the hospital at Marshfield of pneumonia on Sat. Nov. 3.
 
Amanda Johnson, 65, of Spokane, Wash., passed away Sun. morning, Nov. 11, 1945 at the Luther Hospital at Eau Claire.
 
At two o’clock Sat. afternoon, Nov. 3rd, a pretty wedding was solemnized at the Grace Evangelical Church in Chicago, when Adeline Stryk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Malin Stryk, of Lublin, exchanged vows with Pfc. Jos. F. Dedina, Jr. of Fort Sheridan, Ill., son of Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Dedina, Gary, Ind.
 
Della Dean Huls, USNR, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Huls, of Thorp, became the bride of Cpl. Gilbert Lewis Petrusse, of the U. S. Marine Corps., in a ceremony performed by Chaplain Kelly at Oakland, Calif. on Tues. Oct. 23rd.
 
August Wiesner, Sr., 87, passed away at the Sacred Heart Hospital at Eau Claire on Thursday, Nov. 8, 1945.
 
Chas Hansen recently sold his 80 acre farm in the Town of Reseburg to Sgt. Edward Baures, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Baures of the Town of Worden.  Sgt. Baures is still in the service and located at Keesler Field, Miss.
 
White Birch – Mr. and Mrs. John Misiora are the proud parents of a baby boy, who was born on Tues. Nov. 6th at the Victory Hospital.
 
Neiman’s Corner – Word was received here that a son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Leon Neiman, Nov. 11th in Chicago.
 
Born to; Mr. and Mrs. Adam Pawlak of the Town of Thorp a baby boy weighing nine pounds on Fri. Nov. 9th.
 
25 Years Ago (1970)

 
Art Olson, after 42 years delivering oil products in the Thorp area, called it quits.  Art started in Thorp back in 1928 delivering for the White Eagle products then Wadhams Oil and now Mobile Oil products which he has sold to Jerome Slowiak.
 
Arthur Rasmussen, 78, died a Sequim, Wash. on Sun. morning, Nov. 8th.
 
Nieces of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bohn hosted an open house in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary, on Sunday, November 15, 1970.
 
Lillian and Edward Hempleman had four grandchildren born in the year 1970: Brian Hempleman, Jan. 16 of Thorp, Janette Denton, May 18, Sheboygan, Randy Halida, June 20th Sheboygan and Kimberly Nowak, July 4, Stevens Point.
 
A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. John D. Badzinski of Coon Rapids, Minn., Oct. 26th.  They have named him David James.
 
Reseburg – Born to Mr. and Mrs. George Lato of Milwaukee a baby girl on Nov. 8th.
 
Breezy Hill – Mrs. Casper Haas Jr. received a phone call that a son was born to her brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Brunett on Nov. 6.  The little one weighed 9 lbs. and 6 oz. and was named Corey Alan.
 
St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Thorp, was the setting chosen by Miss Dawn Marie Kosakoski as she repeated wedding vows with Thomas Martin Hoffman on Sat., Oct. 31.
 
10 Years Ago (1985),
 
Jennie Ruzak, 75, Route 2, Thorp, died Wed. Nov. 6, 1985 at Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley.
 
The 20,000 square foot facility for BTI is under construction in the new Thorp Industrial Park.  BTI, recruited as the park’s first tenant in Sept. is an industrial bench top and platform truck manufacturer.
 
Wanda E. Biddle, 73, Route 3, Thorp, died Thurs. Nov. 7, 1985.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Osowski are pleased to announce the birth of a grandson, Jeremy John, 8 ½ lbs. born Fri. Nov. 1, 1985 to Ken and Cindee Loos of Spencer.
 
Elsie Elizabeth Graikowski, 76, Berlin, WI, former Thorp resident, died on Mon. Nov. 4, 1985 at the Berlin Memorial Hospital.
 
Tammy M. Rabehl of Marshfield and Craig J. Northway, were united in marriage Sept. 21 at First Presbyterian Church, Marshfield.
