Stanley Sunbeams – Mrs. W. W. Brunelle died here on Tues. 18th, inst., of typhoid fever, burial at Eidsvold. – Miss Josephine Wall also died here Thurs. of typhoid fever, buried in the Catholic Cemetery at Thorp.
 
Pay your taxes and look pleasant.
 
About six inches of snow fell on Christmas Eve., a very appropriate present to this vicinity.
 
Peter LaFlex will give a dance at his residence in the Town of Reseburg on New Years Eve.  Tickets 50˘
 
Mrs. Carolina, wife of John Zimmer, died at her home in the Town of Reseburg on Mon. evening, Dec. 23, 1895, after several weeks of sever (severe) illness.
 
75 Years Ago (1920)

 
Wildwood – John Rogus sawed wood for John Petranovich last week.
 
A little daughter named Shirley Virginia was born to Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Holzhausen, of Salida, Calif., on Wed. Dec. 22.
 
Rural mail carriers Guy Leiby, Louis Papierniak and Stanley Sokolowski are now fully equipped with regulation enclosed mail cabs for their trips of thirty miles each day.
 
George Klak who is a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences at Marquette University, and John Klak who is a sophomore in Electrical Engineering at the State University are spending the Christmas recess with parents.
 
Miss Pearl Roth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Roth, and Mr. Martin Nealis, of Milwaukee were united in marriage at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in that city on Mon. December 17th.
 
50 Years Ago (1945)

 
Mr. and Mrs. Ted Liszewski are the proud parents of a baby girl, born Sun. morning at the Victory hospital in Stanley.
 
Louis Kusmierz, 67, passed away of heart trouble in his sleep on Dec. 14, 1945 at his home in Worden.
 
Cpl. Harley E. Swim, Jr., USMC, after serving two years and ten months with the Marine Air Corps, including 17 months in the Pacific has received his honorable discharge.
 
T/S Milton D. Seaman, son of Mrs. Arthur Seaman, arrived home last Wed. from Fort Sheridan, where he received his discharge. 
 
After serving with his country’s Armed Forces for three years and eight months; 34 months of which he served overseas, Joseph Marek received an honorable discharge.
 
25 Years Ago (1970)

 
Mrs. Anthony Kotecki, 41, a rural Thorp mother of 10 children, died Sunday evening in Victory Memorial Hospital at Stanley of head injuries suffered late Sunday afternoon in a collision at an unmarked town road intersection 3 ˝ miles northeast of here.
 
Funeral services were held Monday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church here for Emil E. Kostner, 65, retired executive of the ITT Thorp Corporation, who died Thursday of a heart attack at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
 
Mary Pagel, 87, passed away Sun. Dec. 20th, at the Stanley Nursing home.
 
William Swinarski, 65, passed away at his home Dec. 9th of a heart attack.
 
Funeral services for Mrs. Joseph Horvath, 75, Town of Pershing, who died unexpectedly at her home Mon., were held at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Gilman.
 
Taft – A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ness the 11th at Chippewa Hospital.
 
An 8 lb. baby girl was born Mon. Dec. 21st to Mr. and Mrs. William D. Wagner of Findlay, Ohio.
 
Breezy Hill – A son, weighing 8 lbs. 12 oz. and 22 inches long, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Gibbs on Monday, the 14th.
 
10 Years Ago (1985)

 
Anna Kroll, 77, Thorp, died Thurs. Dec. 19, 1985.
 
Lori Wojt, Thorp, and Larry Glebke, Gilman, exchanged marriage vows on Sat. Oct. 5, 1985 at Zion Lutheran Church, Gilman.
 
Airman 1st Class Kevin J. Grendzinski, Thorp, has been named outstanding airman for the 86th Tactical Fighter Wing.
