Wm. Walsdorf has purchased a piano for use at his hall.
 
Depot agent H. A. Culler is togged out in his knobby new uniform resplendent with brass buttons.
 
Michael Tomazecki, a recent arrival from Pennsylvania, was killed by a falling limb while at work felling trees on his farm in the Town of Reseburg on Tues. of last week.
 
75 Years Ago (1922)
 
Louie Walsdorf moved into his new residence just completed, last week.
 
Wild Cherry – A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Pogodzinski on Dec. 5.
 
Henderson Corner – Born, on Thurs. Dec. 7 to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Wagener, a son.
 
50 years Ago (1947)

 
An electric motor repair shop has been established in Thorp at Papierniak’s garage in the rear of the post office, and is now open for business.  The business is known as “Thorp Electric Motor Service” owned and operated by Ted Meyer, who is now a resident of Thorp.
 
Bobb’s Mill – Mr. and Mrs. Chas Hardy received an announcement that a daughter was born to their son Philip and wife, of Pine Grove, Penn., on Nov. 23.
 
Yellow River – A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Mattes on Mon., Dec. 15th.
 
25 years Ago (1972)
 
Jewell Olney, former Thorp resident, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Chippewa Falls Tues. Dec. 12.
 
Frank A. Matousek, 63, died last Wed. at his home in Neillsville.
 
The Rev. Father Eugene C. Konopka, 66, a retired priest of the Lublin, Winter, Raddison and Couderay Parish died in the Hayward Memorial Hospital on Sun. Dec. 3.
 
Reseburg – Born to Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Frese a baby girl, Karen Susan, on Dec. 5th at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Chippewa Falls.
 
Staff Sergeant Paul L. Kowieski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul J. Kowieski, Thorp, has re-enlisted in the U. S. Air Force at Hill AFB, Utah.
 
10 Years Ago (1987)

 
Katherine Heiting, 88, Stanley, died Dec. 11, 1987 at Victory Memorial Nursing Home, Stanley.
 
Olive Fisher, 71, Wausau, died Sat. Dec. 5, 1987 at her home.
 
Corner News – During the 10:30 service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Jedediah Michael Szemraj was baptized on Dec. 13th, the son of Joe and Judy Szemraj.
 
William D. Huls, son of William G. and Angeline Huls of Thorp, has been promoted in the U.S. Air Force to the rank of technical sergeant.
 
Beverly L. Berge, Thorp, is among the honor students who have merited high scholastic standing during the fall term at Western Wisconsin Technical College in La Crosse.
 
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Dept. of Elementary Education announced recently that Marilyn Slipek of Thorp has been accepted for membership in the Phi Delta Kappa Professional Fraternity.
 
Timothy Leonard son of Roy and marge Leonard of Thorp has successfully completed training at the Schneider National Advanced Training Center in Green Bay.
 
Bobb’s Mill – Dan and Susan Schultze celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with an “Open House” at Long Branch on Sat. Afternoon. – Mr. and Mrs. Dave Plechacek of St. Louis, Missouri are the parents of a 7lb. 14 oz. baby girl, Jessie Gabrielle, born on Dec. 8th.
