Way Back When

 The Thorp Courier  --   April 9, 2008

What might you recall from this first communion ceremony at St. Mary’s Church in 1959? Maybe you were one of the people in the congregation in this photo, or know someone who was. Do you remember who the pastor was or other details about the photograph?

Dennis Mnichowicz gave us information about the group picture from the March 26th issue. The boys and dad in the top picture included: (L-R) Steve Pawlik, John Pawlik (Dennis’s grandfather), Mike Pawlik, John Pawlik, and (in back) Andrew Pawlik. If you would like to share more details about either of these photos, we would enjoy hearing from you.

If anybody happens to have any pictures of Sam Amorelli or knows anybody who might, please contact The Thorp Courier at 715-669-5525. We were told he was a barber in Thorp (possibly in the 1940s) and also in Lublin and Gilman. His first wife was Elma Nichols, and they had four children. His second wife was Verna with five children. His children do not have any pictures of Sam and are trying to locate even at least one of him.

For more information on this request, see the August 13th column.

For more information on this photo, check the April 23rd  and April 30th columns.
