Way Back When

 The Thorp Courier  --   July 16, 2008

This week, we dug out an old photo from our vault of an event in downtown Thorp.  A large group of people look on from the sidewalk as a car drives past with ladies waving from the back, quite possibly a parade.  All we know is that the photo says April ’57.  Does anyone know what event this was for?  Do you know who these women are, or if they are in some sort of group?  Please share with us and other readers any information you have on this photo.

Last week’s picture of two men holding ribbons have been identified by Hank Ski as Bill Nolechek Sr. and Ben Pawlak.  The two were the first employees of Nolecheck’s, according to Hank, who estimates the picture to have been taken in the 1950s.  Bill is holding a ribbon for first place in ham presentation, and Ben a ribbon for the reserve champion in the state bacon show.  Thank you Hank for providing the information
