Mrs. Harriet M. Hill died suddenly at her home in this city (Neillsville, Clark County) Saturday, Jul 25, 1908. The neighbors found her lying as if asleep upon the couch, death apparently having come painlessly, probably as she slept. She had not been in as good health as usual for a week or two past, but nothing serious was contemplated, her daughter Mrs. R.W. Balch being with her frequently to see to her comfort.

Mrs. Hill was born in New York State Oct. 11, 1836. When fifteen years of age she came with her parents to Sheboygan Co., Wis. In 1859 she was married to Charles Whipple. To them was born two children, one of whom Mrs. Balch, survives. Mr. Whipple died in 1864. In 1874 she was married to Lyman Hill in Sheboygan Co. and ten years later they moved to Clark County upon a farm near Loyal. In 1885 Mr. Hill died. For the last seventeen years she has made her home in Neillsville.

Mrs. Hill was a lady of refinement and intelligence. In a quiet way she son the friendship and esteem of all who met her.

Funeral services were held at the R.W. Balch home Sunday, Rev. H.A. Risser officiating. Monday the remains were taken to Sheboygan County for burial in the family cemetery lot.
