Short, Alice (12 Feb 1848 - 16 Dec 1908)

Mrs. Alice Short, wife of George Short, died at her home in Shortville, Clark County Wednesday evening, Dec. 16, 1908. Mrs. Short, whose maiden name was Alice Kershaw, was born in Massachusetts, Feb. 12, 1848. She came with her family to Whitewater, Wis. when quite young. She was married to George Short March 15, 1869, and they moved to Clark County in 1871, where they continued to live. Mr. Short died Aug. 2, 1908, his sickness and death doubtless hastening that of his wife. Two daughters, Mrs. George Bue and Mrs. Wm. Meddaugh are left to mourn her death.

Aunt Alice, as she was known to the large circle of relatives, and to the older neighbors as well, was a woman of the highest type of Christian character, one whose kindness and quiet helpfulness lent a good influence to all around her.

She was a member of the Shortville Presbyterian Church from its organization. The funeral was held Saturday at that church, burial taking place in the Neillsville Cemetery, Rev. N.F. Chapman officiating.
