Woepse, Oscar H. (22 Mar 1907 - 25 Augl 2002)

Oscar H. Woepse, 95, Neillsville, formerly of Greenwood, died on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville. A graveside inurnment will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29, at Immanuel United Church of Christ Cemetery, rural Greenwood.

Oscar Herman Woepse was born on March 22, 1907, in Sheboygan, to Henry and Johanna (nee Schmidt) Woepse. As a young child, he moved with his family to Greenwood, where he was raised on a farm. He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1924. He attended UW-Madison for a few years. He worked as a milk tester in the Owen-Withee area for a short time before moving to Florida. He worked as a chef in Florida until moving to New Jersey, where he purchased and operated a bar and grill. He then started a floor care business and worked until he was 80. He moved to Neillsville in 1991 and resided there until the time of his death.

Survivors include one sister, Eveline Kuester, Greenwood; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, is assisting the family with arrangements.
