Johnson, Jerome (29 Apr 1928 - 30 Jul 2002)

Jerome "Domey" Johnson, 74, Spencer, died on Tuesday Jul 30, 2002, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Aug. 2, at United Methodist Church, Spencer. The Rev. Lois Takata officiated. Burial was in Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery, Curtiss. Pallbearers were Jeff Johnson, Nils Johnson, Chris Johnson, Stephen Greene, Henry Wawrzynowicz, and Jesse Rogers. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Seitz and Scott Griepentrog.

Jerome Johnson was born on April 29, 1928, in Abbotsford. He graduated from Abbotsford High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946-47 as a paratrooper. He married Roberta Krisman on May 29, 1954, in Chicago. He worked for the National Tea Store in Chicago until 1960, when he moved to Spencer and worked at Picus IGA as produce manager from 1961 until it closed. He then worked in maintenance for the Spencer Schools and mowing lawns for the village of Spencer. He was a member of United Methodist Church and Unity American Legion Post 358.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta Johnson, Spencer; five children, Jeff (Char) Johnson, Spencer, Nils Johnson, Spencer, Katherine (Henry) Wawrzynowicz, Eagle River, Jacqueline (Stephen) Greene, Menomonie, and Chris Johnson, Marshfield; five grandchildren, Samantha Timm, Jesse Rogers, Brittany Johnson, Taylor Johnson, and Amber Gerom; one great-grandson, Nathan Timm; one brother, Jerold (Barbara) Johnson, Farmington, N.M.; and two sisters, Virginia (Kenneth) Jacobson, New Auburn, and Joyce (Edward) Andrews, Demming, N.M.

Preceding him in death were one brother, John Robert Johnson, and one sister, Evelyn Kludy.

Community Funeral Home, Spencer, assisted the family with arrangements.
