Carter, Theo (1 Augl 1895 - 2 Oct 1912)

It came as a shock to the whole community yesterday when the word went around that death had claimed one of our fairest daughters.

Theo, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Carter was born in the town of Levis, Clark County Aug. 1, 1895. Her parents moved to Neillsville into the house which has since been her home, when she was four seeks old, so that practically her whole life has been in our midst.

She was a student in our schools until she was obliged to leave in her first year in high school, on account of her failing health. In spite of her weakness and suffering she kept up so well that even her most intimate friends failed to realize that her life here was so soon to be ended.

She was a member of the Congregational Church, and was at Church Sunday morning. On Monday evening she was taken violently ill, and on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 2nd, at 3:30, she passed quietly into the other world.

What this young life meant to the home and community it is difficult to put into words. Her days were busy, happy ones. Writing letters to the absent father and brothers, doing such home work as she loved to do, fancy work, china painting, and visiting her friends kept her life full of interest.

She was always trying to do something for the church she loved or for her friends, and her sunny presence will be greatly missed everywhere.

Theo was the only daughter. Her older brother Clinton reached home just before the end came. Burr, the younger brother, who was in school at Peoria, Ill. did not reach here until Wednesday morning. The father was summoned from his work in Texas, but cannot get here before Thursday evening.

The funeral services will be held from the home sometime on Friday.
