Stallard, Libbie Simons (14 Mar 1862 - 30 JUNE 1940)

Mrs. J. E. Stallard

Libbie Simons was born March 14, 1862, at Palestine, Waukesha county, Wisconsin, where she grew to young womanhood. She came to Humbird in the early '80s, and on Nov. 14, 1888, she was united in marriage with John E. Stallard, the ceremony being performed in LaCrosse.

Their residence was in Fairchild for twenty-eight years, where Mr. Stallard had charge of the grocery department of the Big Store. For the past twenty years their home has been in Madison, where Mrs. Stallard passed away Sunday, June 30, after a long illness, at their residence, 921 Jennifer St. She attained the age of 78 years, 3 months and 16 days.

The remains were brought to Humbird Tuesday morning and were taken to the home of Miss Edith Simons, which had been her home while living here before her marriage, where funeral services were held at 2:00 p. m., the Rev. J. T. Agema, of Augusta, preaching the sermon. Burial was in the Fairchild village cemetery. Pallbearers were Donald Williams, Glenn Stallard, Franklin Stuve, Charles Noyes, John Stallard, W. F. Hein.

Mrs. Stallard is survived by her husband, and three children: one son, Earl, at Juneau, Wis., and two daughters, Hazel, (Mrs. L. F. Schuchardt) and Marion (Mrs. D. S. Williams), both of Madison. One brother, Henry Simons, of Friend, Nebr.; and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Sturdivant, of Waukesha, and Mrs. Lillian Higbee and Miss Mary Simons, of Milwaukee; and twelve grandchildren mourn her death.

One daughter, Beulah, died in infancy, and a sister, Mrs. Clara Millradt, of Milwaukee, and one brother, F. J. Simons, of Humbird preceded her in death.

Those coming from away to attend the services were, besides the bereft husband, Mr. and Mr. L. J. Schuchardt and Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Williams and son Donald, of Madison; Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Stallard, son Glenn and daughter Katherine, of Juneau; Mrs. Alice Huyck, Mrs. and Mrs. F. A. Shute, Altoona; John Stallard, Mrs. Alton Stallard, Mrs. Elgin Stallard, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. L. N. Rezin, Cranmoor; Mr. and Mrs. Ira Sherwin, Black River Falls.
