Simmons, Belinda (27 Apr 1841 - 12 Jan 1922)

Mrs. J. W. Simmons died at her home in this village (Loyal, Clark County, Wis.) on Thursday, Jan. 12, 1922, at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 15 days. She had been failing in health for the past 18 months, but was up and around the house until the last few days before her death.

Belinda Fletcher was born April 27th, 1841 in the town of Claridon, Geauga Co., Ohio. Her family came to Ohio from Vermont and their ancestry goes back to the Mayflower. Her mother died when she was ten years old and after that she made her home with her oldest brother. When she came of age she supported herself with her needle until she was married.

On Dec. 4th, 1891 she was married to J. W. Simmons, coming to the town of Beaver, Clark County, Wis., where they lived until twelve years ago, when they moved to this village where they have since resided. She is the last of her immediate family and leaves no children. She was converted and joined the Methodist Church at the age of twelve years and remained a faithful member throughout her life, her Bible being her constant and daily companion. She had a kind disposition and all who knew her loved here and her death is mourned by many friends. She is survived by her husband and three step-sons.

The funeral services were held on Saturday at eleven o'clock at the Methodist Church, Rev. J. H. Chatterson officiating. She was laid to rest in the family lot in Beaver.
