Josephine A. Hiles

Josephine Hiles, age 83, of Neillsville, died Saturday, Feb. 14, at the Memorial Nursing Home in Neillsville.

Josephine Amelia Hiles was born on Oct. 7, 1920 in Granton, the daughter of Leo and Myrtle (Converse) Chapel. Prior to her marriage, she was a housekeeper and caretaker. On February 21, 1948 she was united in marriage to William Hiles in Granton. They farmed in the Town of Grant.

Josephine enjoyed bird watching, sewing, gardening, and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed collecting and had a great collection of teddy bears.

She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Joann Hiles of Neillsville, Linda (Donny) Erickson of Neillsville, Amber (Ronnie) Zank of Neillsville, Donna Hanuszczak of Marshfield, Sharon (Mike) Struensee of Neillsville, and Mark (Julie) Hiles of Granton; her grandchildren, Jeremy (Missy) Erickson of Dodgeville, Clint (Heidi) Zank of Neillsville, Becky Zank of Elkhorn, Autumn Hanuszczak of Neillsville, Sarah (Matt) Marty of Neillsville, Carolyn Scheel of Madison, Lacey and Ben Struensee of Neillsville. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren, Mandy (Travis) Coyle of Pittsville, Jenny (Jason) Hoffmann of Marshfield, and Jenny (Brad) Copeland of Black River Falls; and her great- grandchildren, Kelsy and Breanna Marty of Neillsville, and Brayden Zank of Neillsville; along with many nieces and nephews.

Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents, Leo and Myrtle Chapel, a sister, Hazel Braun; and a brother, Ellis Chapel.

Funeral services for Josephine were held Tuesday, February 17, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor James Gordon officiated. Music was provided by Kris Herbrand, organist. Interment was in the Windfall Cemetery in Granton.

Casket bearers were Ronnie Zank, Donny Erickson, Mike Struensee, Clint Zank, Jeremy Erickson, Matt Marty, and Ben Struensee.

The Gesche Funeral Home assisted Josephine's family with arrangements.
