He moved to Chili in March 1919 where he lived until his death.

He was a highly respected man and citizen. The funeral was held at the Chili M.E. Church, Rev. Jordan of Marshfield officiating. Burial took place in Nasonville Cemetery. The pall bearers were Will and Ernest Neinas, Glen Snow, Wm. Reisner, Chas. Kempine, and Thode Harrman. The church was filled to overflowing and the floral tributes were both numerous and beautiful, fitting testimonials of the love and esteem in which this "Grand old man" was held his community.
