Parks, Mary (30 NOV 1869 - 25 Dec 1927)

Mrs. C. B. Parks, for many years a resident here (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.), passed away at her home in La Crosse on Christmas morning, after an illness of about two weeks.

Mrs. Parks, whose maiden name was Mary Marden, was born in Richland Co., Wis., Nov. 30, 1869. She came here with her parents and lived on the farm in what is now the town of Seif. She was married to David Wood in Neillsville in Sept. 1887, living on the farm west of this city until after his death, which took place Oct. 12, 1915. On Feb. 19, 1918, she was married to C. B. Parks. They lived for a year in Sparta, then moved to La Crosse, where they made their home ever since.

Mrs. Parks was a woman of beautiful qualities of heart and mind. In her home she looked faithfully to the comfort and happiness of all about her, and was always ready to help all who needed assistance. In the community she was likewise willing to be of services to all. She stood for those things which were good and true and lent her influence to make the world better and all about her happier. Besides her husband, she leaves five children by her first marriage: Elsie, Mrs. Charles Seif of Neillsville; Earl Wood of Pine Valley; Iva, Mrs. J. J. Hanes of Seattle; Nan, Mrs. Ed Wightman of La Crosse; David Wood of Centralia, Washington. All were with her at the time of her death. She leaves also eight grandchildren, six brothers and one sister.

The funeral will be held here Thursday at the Congregational Church, of which deceased was a member. Rev. G. W. Longenecker will officiate, and burial will take place in the Neillsville Cemetery.
