Ross, Henry (26 OCT 1871 - 23 Jan 1928)

Henry Ross, a well known resident of Neillsville, Clark County, Wis., died at Marshfield hospital early Monday, Jan. 23, 1928, aged 55 years, 3 months and 27 days. He had been ill with pneumonia for some time and was taken to the hospital Saturday and stood the trip well, but his heart was weak and he died suddenly.

Henry Ross was born in Neillsville Oct. 26, 1871, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Ross, being early settlers in Neillsville. He lived here all his life, for over 50 years in the old Ross home on the North Side. For many years he worked in logging camps in winter and on the river spring and summer, also doing some farming. For several years past he has carried on the ice business in Neillsville. He was an honest, industrious man and very accommodating.

For several years he was a member of old Company A and served with the Company in the Spanish-American War. He was a member of the Spanish-American War Veterans.

Mr. Ross was married in 1914 to Edna Gillard, who survives him. Besides his wife he is survived by his brother Dave, who has always lived at home with him; a brother, William, who lives at Gilman; a sister, Mrs. E. J. Scott at Shawano; two half sister, Mrs. F. A. Bates of Haugen, Wis., and Mrs. Mary Morton of Bosburg, Wash., and a half brother, John Sample of Brule, Wis.

The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Congregational Church, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating. The Spanish-American War Veterans will take part in the funeral ceremonies.
