NEILLSVILLE - Bethany Lynn "Bethy" "B.O." Opelt, 15, of Neillsville died Saturday, May 29, 2004, as the result of an ATV/automobile accident.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Neillsville. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville with a Knights of Columbus Rosary Service at 9 p.m.

She was born on May 29, 1989, in Neillsville to Wayne and Connie (Schoen) Opelt. Opelt was finishing her freshman year at Neillsville High School, where her favorite class was woods. She was recently hired as a sandwich artist at Neillsville Subway restaurant and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

She is survived by her parents, Wayne and Connie Opelt of Neillsville; one sister, Krista Opelt of Neillsville; one brother, Jeffery Opelt of Neillsville; her grandparents, Robert and Dorothy Opelt of Neillsville and Edward and Grace Schoen of Neillsville; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

On May 29, 15-year-old Bethany Opelt died from injuries she received the day before when the ATV on which she was riding collided with a car where River Avenue intersects with Clark County Trunk Highway B just west of Neillsville in the town of Pine Valley, Opelt was northbound on the side road and the car was heading east on the highway, according to police reports.

The girl died on her 15th birthday.
