The Rev. Dennis C. Thomas of Owen has been the pastor of Owen Alliance Church at
219 Altenberg St., Owen since September 1981 after having served in Shell Lake
for five years. Prior to that he served a church in Waubay, South Dakota for
three years. Pastor Thomas was born January 6, 1947 at St. Joseph's Hospital,
Marshfield, and was raised in Greenwood, graduating from Greenwood High School.
He attended St. Paul Bible College-Twin Cities in Minneapolis and was ordained
in 1975 in Waubay, South Dakota, as a minister of the Christian and Missionary
Alliance. A Vietnam veteran, Thomas served in the U.S. Air Force as a
communications specialist with the Air Force in Anchorage, Alaska. He and his
wife, Alta, who were married in 1975, are the parents of two daughters, Joanna,
4, and Naomi, 2.
