Brill introduces Herself as Greenwood Librarian (- 2022)



Amber Brill has been named director of the Greenwood Public Library.

A familiar face to many library patrons, Amber Brill recently took over as Greenwood Public Library director after previous director Kim Metzke re tired at the end of February.

Brill shared some information with The Press to help readers get to know her better.

Brill, her husband and their two kids moved from Horicon to the Willard area in June. Brill had not been working when Metzke approached her while visiting the library about a part-time position that was open. Brill started in August. The role fit, as she has always enjoyed being at the library.

“When we moved, we had to wait a couple of weeks before we could get any mail with our new address on it and that time away from a library was painful! I love to read and so do my kids. At our old library we were there constantly getting books [and] movies, [and] doing scavenger hunts and after-school crafts. I love interacting with our patrons, hearing about their day and how much they enjoyed their books,” Brill wrote in an email.

Brill will attend classes this fall to start her library science degree.

She is excited to become even more a part of the community.

“Being new to the community, I am looking forward to getting to know the area and my patrons better. I am looking forward to continuing all current programs and adding in some fun programs and projects here and there,” she wrote.

Brill shared a few other fun facts about herself as well.

“I am a proud Army veteran and Army wife. If I’m not reading, you’ll find me crafting. I love to ride bikes and rollerblade with my kids. I enjoy hunting and shooting my bow.”
