Schwantes, Myrna M. (14 July 1940 – 18 April 2022)

Myrna M. Schwantes, 81, of Mosinee, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2022, at Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau.

Myrna was born on July 14, 1940, to Arnold and Isabelle (Buse) Bruesewitz in Clark County. She graduated from Spencer High School. On September 19, 1964, she was united in marriage to Verlyn Schwantes at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer.

She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mosinee.

In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting and singing in the St. John Lutheran Church choir. She loved to spend time gardening and doing yard work. She also spent her time volunteering at Iron Mountain Michigan Hospital. She had a strong love and passion with caring for her family and grandchildren.

Myrna is survived by her loving husband, Verlyn; her sons, Jeffrey (Carrie) Schwantes of Mosinee and Verrill (MaLia) Schwantes of Champlin, MN; her six grandchildren; her brother, James (Jean) Bruesewitz of Danville, CA; her aunt, Audrey Saunter; her uncle, Wilbur Buse; her sister-in-law, Anita Schwantes and several nieces and nephews along with many other relatives, friends, and church family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Isabelle Bruesewitz.

Her family would like to thank the doctors and staff in the Oncology Department at Marshfield Clinic and the staff and nurses at Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau for the dedicated care shown to Myrna.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Myrna’s name can be directed to St. John Lutheran Church, 901 11th Street, Mosinee, WI 54455.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday, April 22, 2022, at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer with Pastor Phyllis Smoot officiating. She will be laid to rest in West Spencer Cemetery in the Town of Sherman. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Friday from 12 Noon until time of service.
