Betty L. Montgomery

Betty Montgomery, age 82, of Neillsville, died Thursday, June 17, at the Memorial Nursing Home in Neillsville.

Betty Lou Montgomery was born on Feb., 21, 1922, in Alden, Illinois, the daughter of Charles H. and Edna M. (Hentzein) Seefeldt. She was educated and graduated from Alden High School. Upon graduation she worked for two years at Lake Bluff Orphanage in Lake Bluff, Ill.

In 1941, Betty went to work for Woodstock Typewriter Co. in Woodstock, Ill. She worked there for 15 years. She was united in marriage to Carl Montgomery on April 25, 1953 at the Methodist Church in Woodstock.

In 1957, they moved to Neillsvi1le, and in 1958 to Granton. Betty worked at the Neillsville Milk Products as a bookkeeper until their closing. Then she went to work at Weyerhauser in Marshfield for 20 years. Carl died in 1979.

Betty resided at the Memorial Nursing Home in Neillsville since 1997.

Betty was a member of the Granton United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son, Bill (Punk "Loleta") Montgomery, of Granton; five-grandchildren, Tiffanee (Christopher Tesmer) Montgomery and her daughter, Kellisa Rowe; Brittney (Eric) Lowry and their children Chloee and Taytor; Blaine Montgomery; Coty Montgomery and Chad Montgomery, all of Granton. Betty is also survived by three nephews, Randy (Beth) Cantrell, of Granton; Scott Cantrell, of Waupaca; and Jim (Sharon) Seefeldt, of Neillsville; and two nieces Kathy Seefeldt of Portage, Ind., and Carol (Rev. Kermit) Oppreicht, of Wichita, Kansas. Betty is also survived by her special friend, Harry Channing 'of Neillsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; a daughter, Pam; one sister and two brothers.

Funeral Services for Betty were held Thursday, June 24, at the United Methodist Church in Granton. Pastor Craig Conklin officiated. Interment was in the Windfall Cemetery in Granton.

The Gesche Funeral Home assisted Betty's family with funeral arrangements.
