Ruth A. Barr, 82, Greenwood, died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. There will be no services held per Ruth’s request.

Ruth Ann Johnson was born Sept. 7, 1921, in Greenwood, to Edwin and Gertrude [nee Olson] Johnson. She was raised and educated in Greenwood, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1939. After completing her education, she was employed in Woodstock, Ill., and then worked as a bookkeeper at George Speich Tractor and Equipment and at Farmers Store in Greenwood. She married Jacob Barr on July 20, 1946, in Winona, Minn. They owned and operated Barr’s Bar for the past 58 years and also farmed for many years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenwood, served as the treasurer for the town of Eaton for many years, and had many interests, but especially enjoyed snowmobiling, traveling, camping and playing cards with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Jake Barr, Greenwood; two sons, Jack [Janet] Barr, Sun Prairie, and Jim [Deb] Barr, Willard; one daughter, Jana [Scott] Herrick, Willard; five grandchildren, Kin, Chad, Cory, Jackie, and Eddie; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley [Giles] Susa, Greenwood; and two brothers, Bernard [Helen] Johnson and Howard [Leta] Johnson, both of Wittier, Calif.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
