Vera Ellen Hendrickson was born May 21, 1914, in the town of Unity to John and Lena (nee Carlson) Hendrickson. She attended school at Riplinger. Vera married Clarence G. Knoll on April 4, 1935, in Loyal.

They farmed in the Loyal, Nasonville, Riplinger and Colby areas until the fall of 1962, when they moved to Riplinger. Her husband, Clarence, died Feb. 3, 1963. Following her husband's death, Vera worked at the Riplinger Cheese Factory, some resorts in Northern Wisconsin, and did babysitting. She was a long time member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the WELCA in Riplinger. Vera was a wonderful mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed going to dances in her younger years, listening to polka music, bird watching, camping with her family, gardening and admiring beautiful flower gardens.

Vera had a great zest for life and will be dearly missed by her children, LaVern (Evelyn) Knoll of Mountain, Dorene (Donald) Newman of Unity, Janet (Norman) Schmidt of Loyal and Gene (Cheryl) Knoll of Medford. She is further survived by 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, several nieces and nephews and one brother, Walter Hendrickson of Muskego.

Preceding her in death were her parents; eight sisters, Ida, Emily, Matilda, Selma, Lila, Alma, Julia and Olga; and six brothers, Art, Edward, Charles, John, Henry and Raymond.
