Sarah Jenks was born Feb. 19th, 1850 at Leyden, Lewis Co., N.Y.. She came to Wisconsin with her parents, William M. and Mary Ann Jenks, who settled at Aytalan, Jefferson Co., Wis., on a farm in 1863. After residing on this farm seventeen years they moved to the village of Aytalan. Two years later the father died and the mother being an invalid, Sarah lived with her and cared for her for fifteen years. Shortly after the death of her mother Sarah moved to Lake Mills, Wis., where she resided and was occupied in caring for elderly ladies until her health failed in 1922. In 1922 she became a member of the Congregational Church at Lake Mills and won many friends. In Jan. 1923 she moved to Loyal, Clark County, Wis., where she lived with Mrs. Eliza Nichols for 9 months, and then made her home with her nephew, R. M. Jensk and family until her death, which occurred Sunday, April 27, 1924, at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 8 days.
