A formal wedding ceremony took place at high noon in the Congregational Church at Red Granite, Wis., Tuesday, July 3rd, 1923, when Miss Ruth Hughes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hughes, became the wife of Mr. John Shupe, son of Mrs. J. Shupe of Loyal, Clark County, Wis. Rev. Tracey performed the ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Gwendolyn and Virginia Jones, nieces of the bride, acted as flower girl and ring bearer. Immediately after the wedding dinner was served to the relatives. The table was prettily decorated in pink and white. The bride was attired in a blue suit trimmed with gray, with hat to match. She wore a corsage bouquet of roses and lilies of the valley. She was attended by Miss Helena Shupe, sister of the groom, who wore a tan canton Crepe dress with hat to match, and a corsage bouquet of roses. The groom was attended by Arden Hughes, brother of the bride. Miss Mabel Horn played Medelssohn's Wedding March. Mrs. H. E. Jones, sister of the bride, rendered a solo "O Promise Me." They left for a trip to the dells and other points in the northern part of Wisconsin. They will be at home after Aug. 1st in Loyal, Wis., where Mr. Shupe is employed in the Citizens State Banks. The bride is an accomplished young lady, a graduate of the Red Granite High School and the Berlin Training School for Teachers. She has spent a number of years here and has a host of friends. She taught two successful years at Loyal, Wis. She and her husband have the congratulations of her many Red Granite friends.
