Schaeffner, Pauline W. (2 JUN 1857 - 29 May 1926)

Pauline Wilhelmina Schaeffner, Nee Zipfel, was born June 2, 1857 at Roda Saxony Altenburg, Germany. She came to this country with her parents at the age of ten years and settled at Farmington, Washington Co., Wis. She was instructed and confirmed in the Lutheran Church at that place. In the year of 1873 her parents moved to Clark County, Wis. and settled on a farm 5 miles east of Neillsville.

On the 5th of Nov. 1878 she was untied in marriage to Edward Schaeffner at Milwaukee. They then moved to Berlin, Wis., residing at that place for one years, after which they moved on a farm near Loyal, of which she lived 46 years. Her husband died in 1906.

She died at 8:10 p.m. on May 29th, 1926 after an illness of three weeks, at the age of 69 years less three days. The cause of her death was a cancerous tumor.

She leaves the following children to mourn her loss: Edward, Charles and William Schaeffner of Loyal, Martha Ratzburg of Loyal, Mary Jahr of Granton, Hannah Lemke of Denver, Colorado, Clara Lindner of Loyal and Helen Young of Granton. One sister, Mrs. Bertha Scholtz and one brother, Louie Zipfel. Also nineteen grandchildren and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Lutheran Church here on Wednesday afternoon, June 2nd and interment was made in the Loyal Cemetery.

The Tribune joins with the many friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved children.
