Happe, Harland (17 Oct. 1924 - 8 Sept. 1930)

Harland, little son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Happe, Jr., of the town of Fremont, died at St. Joseph’s hospital Thursday noon, Sept. 18, 1930. A fractured skull, the result of being stuck by a car, was the cause of death.

Harland was born Oct. 17, 1924 and stated school this year. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the Evangelical church in Chili. Rev. G. W. Zimmerman, the Evangelical pastor, assisted by Rev. Charles Epple, Denver, Colo., officiated at the services. Three songs were rendered by the quartet consisting of Mrs. E. Ott, Mrs. O. Drescher, Charles Lindow and Arthur Happe. The pall bearers were Elmer Sanger, Wilbur Sanger, Raymond Kaddatz and Wesley Happe. The girls who took charge of the many beautiful floral pieces were Ella Sanger, Lucille Happe, Verna Happe, Hazel Ott, Marian Cole, Violet Foemmel, Ellen Drescher, Marjorie Drescher and Caroline Lindow.

There are left to mourn Harland’s death, the father and mother and one sister, Rowene, aged 8. No words can tell of the sorrow that the death of this little boy has brought to the home and the deepest sympathy is felt for those who mourn by all in the community.
