Eleanor I. Schnitzler, 94, Marshfield, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at the Marshfield Center, where she had resided since Oct. 25, 2000. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marshfield. The Rev. Roman F. Kaiser and the Rev. Thomas J. Abraham officiated. Music was provided by Douglas Seubert, organist, and William A. Allen, soloist. Burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield. Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Diane Klinke, Linda Schnitzler, Karen Lane, Kathleen Kohlnhofer, Renee Walker, Amy Jepsen, Tracy Schnitzler, and Sandy Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren, Sally Jackson, Dave Schnizler, Troy Zimmerman, Scott Funk, and Rick Kennedy.

Eleanor I. Bores was born on July 6, 1910, in Marshfield, to August and Bertha [nee Neubauer] Bores. She attended Sacred Heart Parochial School. She married Roman C. Schnitzler on Oct. 15, 1929, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary in 2000. He died on Dec. 28, 2000. In addition to family responsibilities, she was employed at Marshfield Canning Company for 23 seasons. She also had been employed in the produce department for South Parkway, which later became Southtown Foods, from 1959, until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish Council of Catholic Women. She enjoyed her gardens, playing cards, traveling and visiting family members.

Survivors include six daughters, Bernice Volovsek, Loyal, Eileen Funk, Freedom, Marlene Kennedy, Wisconsin Rapids, Janice [Frank] Pekol, Neillsville, Sister Carol Schnitzler, SSND, Loyal, and Mary Jane [Paul] Zimmerman, Spencer; four sons, Donald [Gloria] Schnitzler, Mosinee, John [friend, Darlene Brock] Schnitzler, Marshfield, Charles [Beverly] Schnitzler, Marshfield, and Thomas [Barbara] Schnitzler, Marshfield; 36 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lucille Schrader, Marshfield, Elaine [Harley] Loos, Chili, and Catherine Konkel, Chicago; two brothers, Robert Bores, Marshfield, and Gerald [Arvilla] Bores, Stratford; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Bores, Marshfield.Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Roman; a daughter, Sister Joann Schnitzler, SSND, who died Feb. 17, 1996; four grandchildren, Steven Funk, Lauri Ann Schnitzler, Sheila Kennedy, and Michael Volosek; three sisters, Evelyn Krohn, Helen Vlahos and Betty Bores; five brothers, George, Frederick, Melvin, Ervin and Ray Bores; and four sons-in-law, William Volovsek, Roger Funk, George Burnett, and Leo Kennedy.

Memorials May be designated in her name to Sacred Heart Parish or Sacred Heart Parish Organ Fund.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Marshfield Center and to the many relatives, friends and clergy who visited her often.
