Gadke, Birdelia L. "Birdie" (7 Jan. 1926 - 5 Nov. 2004)

Birdelia L. "Birdie" Gadke, 78, Marshfield, died at 11:55 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, at Marshfield Center.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Rev. Robert A. Brandt will officiate, and Jolene Albert will be the organist for congregational singing.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Immanuel Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until time of services Tuesday. Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Birdelia was born Jan. 7, 1926, in Dorchester to Morgan and Lillie (Rasmusson) Underwood. She married Earl Schultz in 1943 and later she married Kenneth Gadke in 1958. He died Oct. 29, 1993.

In her early years, Birdie and her husband farmed. Later, she was employed at Saint Joseph's Hospital until her retirement in 1991. After her retirement, she was employed in home health care until she became ill. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Diane (Marvin) Doescher of Chili, Bruce (Shirley) Schultz of Stratford, Edward (Karen) Gadke of Oklahoma City, Okla., Roger (Janet) Schultz, LuAnn Schulz, Terry Schultz, Gail (David) Butler, Janice (Richard) Harriman, Paula (Mike) Rottscheit, Mark (Paula) Gadke and Myron (Sara) Gadke, all of Marshfield. She also is survived by 27 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vera Besaw, of Green Bay.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; seven brothers and sisters; and two grandchildren, Steven Doescher and Nikki Schultz.

The family will designate a memorial in her name at a later date.
