Klemme, Sophie E. (16 Feb 1913 - 23 NOV 2004)

Sophie E. Klemme, 91, Minneapolis, formally of Loyal, died on Nov. 23, 2004, at her home. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 29, at Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal. Burial was in Loyal Lutheran Cemetery. Sophie Emelia Voigt was born on Feb. 16, 1913, in Loyal, to Gust and Elizabeth [nee Lucht] Voigt. She attended school in the Loyal area and graduated from Loyal High School in 1930, Following her education, she worked in Stratford as a beautician. She married Otto R. Klemme on Feb. 2, 1946, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. He was a dentist in Stratford until his retirement in 1970. In 1952, she contracted polio. Dispite her disability, she raised her children and was a wonderful wife and mother. Following their retirement, they moved to Florida, still spending summers in Wisconsin until 1982, when Otto passed away. She moved to Marquette, Mich., to be near her son in 1987. She then moved to Minneapolis in 2000, to be near her daughter, Kay. She loved gardening, reading and spending time with her family.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Kat Klemme, Minneapolis, and Dr. Kirk "Butch" [Ann] Klemme, Hancock, Mich.; one granddaughter, Lucy Klemme, Marquette, Mich; one step-granddaughter, BrieAnne Leffler, Marquette, Mich.; two brothers, Alan [Janice] Voigt, Neillsville, and Jim (Kathy) Voigt, Marshfield; and nieces and nephews.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, assisted the family with arrangements.

Otto was my Great Grandfather, his son Delbert was my Grandfather, and Kenneth was my father...do you have any more Klemme history? I found it very intriquing to read of this.
