Schlinsog, Adolph (14 Nov. 1848 - 1 July 1932)

Adolph Schlinsog passed away at the home of his son, Albert, at six o’clock p.m., July 1, after an illness of three months. Mr. Schlinsog was one of the early settlers of the town of Grant where he lived for 74 years. Born at Silesia, Germany, on Nov. 14, 1848, Mr. Schlinsog came to this country when but five years of age. They settled at Cederburg, Wis., where they lived for four years, later moving to Clark county and locating in the town of Grant.

He was married on Feb. 12, 1884, to Miss Helen Tischer and three children were born to them: Martha, now Mrs. Fred Lichte of Lynn; Albert, of Grant township; Margaret, now Mrs. Margaret Schlinsog, Grant township. Mr. Schlinsog also leaves nine grandchildren, one great grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Carolina Lustig of Neillsville.

He was one of the founders of the Maple Works Lutheran Church of which he was a faithful member until his death. Funeral services were conducted at the Albert Schlinsog home and Maple Works Lutheran Church in the town of Grant, Tuesday at 2 o’clock, Rev. Carl Hoeh officiating. He was buried at the church cemetery. The pall bearers were Adolph Lichte, Fred Helm, Will Wischuelke, Paul Garbisch, L. Elmhurst, and L. E. Moh. The flower girls were his granddaughters Lydia Schlinsog and Viola Lichte. Those from far away who came to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sievert and daughter, Edna; Mrs. Clara Malcow and daughter, Elnora; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lustig and daughter, Emma and son, Willie, Owatonna, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. William Schlinsog and daughter, Mabel, from Greenwood, Wis.
