Cook, Kate M. (14 JUN 1873 - 9 JUN 1955)

Neillsville, Clark County, Wis. - Funeral services for Mrs. Kate Marie Cook, 81, of Humbird, Clark County, who died of complications early Thursday at the home of a cousin, Mrs. Nelson Parrett, Endeavor, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 13, at the First Congregational Church here.

The Rev. Virgil Nulton, pastor of the First Methodist Church, will officiate and burial will take place in the Neillsville Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Bergemann Funeral home until 1 p.m. Monday, when it will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services.

Mrs. Cook, nee Abbott, was born June 14, 1873 at Black River Falls and received her education in a country school near there. She lived near that city until April 20, 1898, when she was married to Lon Cook at Hewettville. The couple then moved to a farm in the town of Hewett, where they lived until the death of her husband on Oct. 18, 1936.

For several years after the death of her husband, Mrs. Cook was housekeeper at the Dudley home in Neillsville. Later she bought a home in Humbird where she lived until her last illness, when she went to make her home with her cousin. She had been in ill health for several years.

Mrs. Cook is survived by one granddaughter, Mrs. Laurel Ragona, South San Francisco, Calif., one great-granddaughter and a half-sister, Mrs. Mary Cook of Centralia, Calif. She was also preceded in death by one son, Ben Cook.
