Wuest, Melia (? - 29 May 1924)

Mrs. Vincent Wuest died at the Marshfield Hospital, Thursday, May 29, 1924 at 7:30 A.m. following an operation for mastoids.

The remains were brought home and a very impressive service was held Monday morning at the St. Louis Catholic Church, Rev. Paul Pitzenberger officiating and interment took place in the Holy Rosary Cemetery at Medford, Mr. Wuest's four brothers, Peter, John, Louis and Joseph, and her two brothers, Nick and John Abler, acting as pallbearers.

She was an active member of the Catholic Order of Forresters and The Christian Mothers and these societies escorted the remains to its final resting place.

Melia Abler was born at Mount Calvary, Wis., and was married to Vincent Wuest at Medford, Nov. 28, 1911, and March 12, 1915, they came to Dorchester, Clark County, Wis. and purchased the Block Hotel, which they have since occupied.

Mrs. Wuest was ill most of the time for the last nine years, but she was always willing to do everything she could for the church and its organizations and also the school, where her children's interests were. Always pleasant, cheery, and ready to help wherever needed.

To us the greatest eulogy one could have is "She hath done what she could" an that we think applies to our townswoman, Mrs. Wuest. Though she is gone, she has not lived in vain if she has imparted the idea of helpfulness to anyone near.

She is survived by her husband, three children, Erma, Roman, and Norbert, two brothers, and two sisters. Those present to the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Nick Abler, John Abler, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Petri and family, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Wuest, Mr. and Mrs. John Wuest and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Wuest, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wuest, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ulrich, Mr. and Mrs. Rader, all of Mount Cavalry, Mr. and Mrs. Heisler, Abbotsford, Mr. and Mrs. Niggeman and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Krause and family of Colby, Phil Bobbler, Owen, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hirsch, Medford, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Deckelman, Mr. and Mrs. A. Fleistman, Mr. and Mrs. P. Schupp and Mr. and Mrs. V. Hirsch, all of Little Black.
