ANTON NOWAK

Funeral services were held Monday from the Georgas Funeral Home for Anton Nowak (aka Novak) age 77, town of Dewhurst, R. 1 Merrillan, who died March 1, 1962 at his home. The Rev. Veryln Nelson, of the Assembly of God Church officiated. Burial was made in the Hatfield Cemetery.

Anton "Tony" Nowak was born October 24, 1884, in Posen, Poland and came to the United States with his parents (Joseph and Josephine (Ciehan) Nowak) to the Chicago area. In 1933, they moved to the town of Dewhurst near Bruce Mound.

On November 16, 1916, he married the former Katie Wojziehwska in Chicago, IL. His wife died when their son was a young child. He farmed along with his parents in the Bruce Mound area of Dewhurst Township many years, where he resided until the time of his death. While residing in Chicago he was employed on the railroad.

He is survived by a son Thomas (Ann Marie) Nowak of Oak Lawn, IL; a sister Kathryn Wojciechowski, of Cicero, IL, and seven grandchildren. Tony was preceded in death, by his parents, his wife, and two brothers, Thomas and Casimer.

Pallbearers were: Harvey Mohr, John Dickinson, B.H. Bohac, Albert Mohr, Joe Pasek and Frank Pollick. People from away attending the service were: Thomas Nowak, Oak Lawn, IL; Stanley Nowak, Cicero, IL.
