Kelpin, Mr./Mrs. Wilhelm (50th Anniv. 18 Nov. 1932)

Wilhelm Kelpin and Wilhelmina Blum, each a native of Germany, reenacted their marriage ceremony of 50 years ago at the German Lutheran Church in Chicago Park last Friday and later in the day received more than half a hundred relatives, neighbors and other well-wishers at their home in Grass Valley, Calif.

The Kelpins were married in Rochester, N. Y., Nov. 18, 1882. Wilhelm Kelpin having preceded his bride to the United States by two years. The couple then moved to Granton, Wisconsin, where they lived for 34 years, during which time 10 children were born to them, seven of whom are still living, 4 being present at the golden ceremonies.

From Granton came Mrs. Mary Scheeler, from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, came Mrs. Emma Norleben, from Spencerport, N. Y., came Mrs. Martha Gravelle, daughters, Chas. Kelpin, a son was here from Los Angeles, Cal. Other sons unable to attend are Paul of Payette, Idaho; Arnold from Rochester, N. Y., Herman from Cuba City, Calif. Six of the couple's 18 grandchildren attended the golden wedding. Two granddaughters, Ageathea and Nelda Bloche were among the singers. Four great-grandchildren are also among the descendants.
