Jacob was born April 30, 1913, in Marshfield, a son of the late Henry and Mary (Kraus) Eckes. He attended St John's and Purdy High School.

Mr. Eckes and the former Bernice M. (Bonnie) Lynn of Unity were united in marriage on July 3, 1940, in Dubuque, Iowa.

Jake opened Northside Radio & TV in 1942, where he displayed the very first TV set in Marshfield. Although he's done business with hundreds of local people, he is probably best known for being the "Concertina King." He was an accomplished musician and performed at local functions and throughout the state over the past 70 plus years. His concertina talent continued to the end, despite his failing health. It was a part of him that we all will miss. Mr. Eckes was a former member of the Marshfield Elks and Eagles and a Friend of the Wildwood Park Zoo Society.

Mr. Eckes is lovingly survived by his wife, Bonnie of Marshfield; six children, Lynn (Barbara) Eckes, Marshfield, Joan (Norman) Bruns, Milwaukee, Marty (Linda) Eckes, Chicago, Ill., Judy (Bob) Dandar, Marshfield, Dan (Kathy) Eckes, Bradenton, Fla., and Karl (Mary) Cox, South Pasadena, Calif.; two sisters, Marcella Hastreiter and Elinor Krasin of Marshfield; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Preceding Jacob in death were one sister, Marie Fochs and one brother, Bernard Eckes.
