Sontag, Ernest C. (11 OCT 1890 - 3 Augl 1977)

Neillsville, Clark County, Wis. - Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home for Ernest C. Sonntag, 86, of 3 Grand Ave., Neillsville, who died at Memorial Hospital Wednesday. The Rev. Ronald J. Nordin, pastor of the Calvary Lutheran Church, will officiate and burial will be in Neillsville Cemetery.

Friends May call from 4-9 this evening and Saturday until the time of services.

Ernest C. Sonntag was born Oct. 11, 1890 in Germany and came with his parents to this country at an early age. The family settled in Chicago where he received his education. He worked there for a short time, then moved to Hobart, Ind., where he farmed and worked in the steel mills.

After his retirement he moved to Fairchild and then to California, before going to Neillsville eight years ago. He was a member of the American Legion Post of Hobart, Ind.

He married Jan. 8, 1919 in Indiana, to the former Sarah Judge and she died Aug. 12, 1969.

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Lorraine) Kietzman of Hobart, Ind., and Mrs. Sarah Oliver and Mrs. Janet Kubik, both of Neillsville; a son, Fred Sonntag, Hobart, Ind.; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Majors, Hobart, Ind.; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife he was predeceased by two sons and two brothers.

Sonntag, Ernest O. (11 October 1890 - 3 August 1977)

Funeral services were held August 6 from the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home for Ernest O. Sontag, 86, of Neillsville, who died August 3. The Rev. Ronald Nordin of Calvary Lutheran Church officiated, and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were David Kietzman, Dean Sonntag, James Sontag, Ernest Oliver, Tony Kubik and Clarence Jasemer.

Mrs. May Peters sang “In The Garden” and “Onward Christian Solders.” Mrs. Elaine Smith was the accompanist.

Those from out of town who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. John Judge of Hobart, In., Miss Beverly and Miss Kathy Lorenz of Lansing, Il.; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Vizena and family, of Lake Station, In.; Mrs. Carol Parker, of Elmhurst, Il.; and the Rev. and Mrs. Horst Augustin and family of Granton.
