Gunderson, Adeline (Birthday observed)

Monday, Aug. 28, marked another mile post in the life of Mrs. Henry Gunderson of Los Angeles, formerly Adeline Neverman, and this was made into a celebration long to be remembered by her many friends who has a part in the event.

Invitations were sent out to eight former Neillsville women, but no mention was made of the reason or special occasion. Girls everywhere prefer to keep their birthday a secret, at least the number which is being observed, and so, this girl is no different from all the others, and only for a little "Bird" would it have been known.

Guests arrived at noon and were then directed by motor to Totter Inn, where preparations were made in advance for nine places, with a birthday cake in the center surrounded by tall pink candles on the table, the cake being placed in the center of beautiful flowers.

A lovely chicken dinner was served. Immediately after dinner the guests returned to the home of Mrs. Gunderson where bridge was played, Mrs. Harry Neff winning high score, Mrs. Frances Carr being second high and Mrs. Caroline Babcock awarded the booby prize.

The remainder of the afternoon was spent in visiting, living over again the happy days back in Neillsville, and exchanging experiences. Mrs. George Wilding had just returned from an extended trip to Canada, stopping in route to see a number of former Neillsville friends, and these incidents added greatly to the joy of the occasion.
