Pakiz, Gilbert V. (24 May 1920 - 2 May 2005)

Gilbert Vladimir Pakiz, 84, Baltimore, Md., died Monday, May 2, 2005, at All Saints Medical Center, Racine. Inurnment services were held Thursday, May 5, at Greenlawn Memorial Chapel, Sheboygan, with full military rites, Larry Pakiz, Greenwood played taps.

Gilbert Vladimir Pakiz was born May 24, 1920, in Willard to Vladimir and Olga (nee Tiran) Pakiz. He attended Willard State Graded School and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1938. He entered the U.S. Army immediately after graduation. He served in the Phillipine Theater of War and later in Germany. He married Waltraud Haym on May 5, 1950, in Germany. They later divorced. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1958, and then lived in Baltimore, Md. He worked as a bookkeeper for several stores and for the University of Maryland Athletic Department until he retired. He continued to live in Baltimore until April 1, 2003, when he moved to a veteran’s home in Union Grove. His hobbies included bowling and cooking.

Survivors include one brother, Frank (Rosaline) Pakiz, Greenwood; one sister, Marie (George) Kuznacic, Sheboygan; and nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Vladimir and Olga Pakiz; and one nephew, Dennis Pakiz.
