Brown, Signa (19 June 1913 - 7 July 2005)

THORP -- Signa Brown, 91, a former resident of the Boyd area, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2005 at the Oakbrook Health & Rehabilitation Center, Thorp.

Signa was born June 19, 1913 in Menomonie, the daughter of Erick and Anna (Berseth) Reppe. She grew up in Menomonie and attended area schools. She was then united in marriage to Gilbert Brown on Dec. 10, 1931. They had two daughters, Margaret (Dolly) and June.

Signa worked at various jobs, clerking at the Heagles Wood Works, cooking in lumber camps, and managing the Meridan Home for the Elderly in Boyd for 22 years. She has resided at the Oakbrook Health & Rehabilitation Center in Thorp for the past five years.

She attended the Abundant Life Pentecostal Church in Thorp, and in earlier years the Apostolic Faith Assembly in Stanley. She faithfully taught Sunday School and was an excellent worker at the church.

Signa will be greatly missed by her daughter, June (Richard) Smith of Stanley, 17 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren, her son-in-law Glen Lewallen of Stanley, one sister, Ellen Reppe of Menomonie, and one sister-in-law, Edna Brown of Stanley. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband Gilbert in 1990; her daughter Margaret (Dolly) Lewallen; six brothers, Edward, Ole, Peter, Palmer, Oliver and Ingvold Reppe; and three sisters, Sophie Meier, Clara Reppe and Borgena Lee.

Besides having a great love for her family, Signa loved to read, especially her Bible daily. She also enjoyed baking, crossword puzzles and her church, which was a very important part of her life.

Plombon Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements. Services will be held on Monday, July 11, at 11 a.m. at the Abundant Life Pentecostal Church in Thorp, with Pastor John Sindler officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Stanley. Friends and family May call on Sunday evening from 4-8 p.m. at the Plombon Funeral Chapel, Stanley.
