Witt, Hilda Ida (26 April 1903 - 20 Sept. 1966)

Funeral services for Mrs. Charles (Hilda Ida) Witt, 63, Colby, were held Friday, Sept. 23, at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby. Mrs. Witt died Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 20, at her home, of a heart attack. The Rev. David Pankow officiated at the services, and burial was in the South Green Grove Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were handled by Lulloff Funeral Home.

Music during the service was furnished by Kenneth Schulz, soloist, accompanied by Mrs. William Frome at the organ. Pallbearers were Richard Witt, Ronald Witt, Chester Stephens, Eldor Hansen, Jack Molle and Harold Hardrath.

Mrs. Witt was born Hilda Molle on April 26, 1903, in the town of Green Grove. She received her education in area schools, and on July12, 1922, married Charles Witt at the Lutheran Church at North Green Grove. Following their marriage, they farmed in the town of Beaver until 1946. After that, they lived in the town of Hull for a few years and spent some time in Milwaukee, retiring to their home in Colby about 10 years ago. Mrs. Witt was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Colby, and the Church’s sewing circle.

Surviving in addition to her husband, are a son, Harley Witt, Unity; two daughters, Mrs. Milford (Elaine) Frome, Colby, and Mrs. Jack (Joan) Leichtnam, West Allis; three sisters, Mrs. Ole (Anna) Elstrom, Colby, Mrs. Edward (Ida) Meyer, Colby, and Mrs. Alfred (Frieda) Hendrickson, Spencer, and Henry Molle of Unity. She was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.

Relatives and friends attending the funeral came from Alexandria, Minn., Milwaukee, Appleton, Watertown, Stanley, Cranden, Stevens Point, Urlington, Manitowoc, Chippewa Falls, Spencer, and the Colby area.
