Sommer, Pauline L. (19 June 1855 - 1 Jan. 1954)

CURTISS, WIS. - Funeral services for Mrs. Pauline L. Sommer, 98, of Green Grove, were held on Tuesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, town of Green Grove. Rev. William Grafe was the officiating clergyman.

Pallbearers were Sylvan Sommer, Victor Heschke, Walter Laabs, Adloph Stacke, Otto Sommer Jr. and Donald Sommer, all grandsons of the deceased.

The church choir, accompanied by Mrs. Walter Stocker, sang, "Now the Light Has Gone Away" and "Asleep in Jesus". The Ladies Aid Society, of which she was a member, sang, "Nearer My Go to Thee".

Mrs. Sommer died on New Year’s Day at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Woik, with whom she had made her home for the past 17 years. Death was caused by complications of age.

Mrs. Sommer was born June 19, 1855, in Germany. When a young child she came to this country with her parents, settling in Sheboygan County. She received her education in this country.

On Feb. 19, 1874, she was married to William Sommer of Chicago, Ill. In 1880 they moved to the town of Green Grove, settling on a farm which is now occupied by a grandson, Vernon Sommer. In 1937, because of ill health, she came to make her home with her youngest daughter, Mrs. Paul Woik. She was preceded in death by her husband and the following children, Mrs. Louise Galles, Mrs. Selma Heschke, Hilda Sommer, and William Sommer, who died last Dec. 8. She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers and one sister.

She is survived by the following children, Mrs. Lydia Laabs, Otto Sommer, Theodore Sommer, Rev. A. G. Sommer, and Mrs. Paul Woik; by 24 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Kronour of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. William Sommer, Vernice Sommer, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvan Sommer, Mr. and Mrs. Rupert Sommer, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Sommer Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Otto Sommer, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stocker, Neenah; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Heschke, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Heschke, Mrs. Ernest Lutzke, Sheboygan Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Ewald Olm, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Meyer, Mrs. Hulda Schueler, Cleveland; Mr. and Mrs. Leon Laack, Hillbert; Mr. and Mrs. Peter Zarnoth, Mrs. Herbert Hoge, Lenora Olm and Adolph Bubolz, Reedsville; Mrs. Walter Olm, Collins; Mrs. Henry Drheim, Mrs. C. C. Brick, Chilton; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Sy, Valders; Herman Olm, Brillion; Elmer Olm, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Hennlich and family, Mr. and Mrs. Norwood Krueger and family, Milwaukee; Rev. and Mrs. C. J. Seegers, Antigo; Mrs. Elda Sommer, Merrill; and many other relatives and friends from surrounding communities.
