Yost, Harold (20 March 1923 - 9 May 1994)

Spencer - Harold R. "Pete" Yost, 71, Spencer, died May 9, 1994, at St. Joseph’s Hospital Hospice Care Unit, Marshfield.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Spencer, with the Rev. Steven Brice officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Kurt Kildebrandt, Pat and Nathan Wachholz, Tim and Todd Hebert and Nick, Luke, Daryl and Gerald Yost.

Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chapel of Memories Mausoleum, Wisconsin Rapids.

Visitation will be at Community Funeral Home, Spencer, after 4 p.m. today. Veterans of Foreign Wars service will be at 7 tonight followed by a parish prayer vigil at 8:45, both at the funeral home.

He was born March 20, 1923, in Vinton County, Iowa, to the late William and Nira Yost. He was a 1941 graduate of Colby High School. He married Marjorie Gries May 16, 1942, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby.

After serving in the military from March 1944 to October 1945, he was employed at Northwest Feed Mill in Colby. He also farmed in Marathon County from 1945-73. While farming, he also worked at the fish pole factory in Unity, was patrol grader operator for the town of Brighton and worked at Pathfinder Mobile Home plant in Spencer. From 1965-86, he was employed by Land O’Lakes in Spencer until retirement. After retiring, he worked on a part-time basis at Fiskars in Spencer.

He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and Tri-County Antique Auto Club, of which he was past president and vice president. He was a member of Colby VFW Post 2227 and was 4-H leader for 22 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Spencer, three sons, Richard Harold Yost of Carthage, N.C.; and Barry (Sharon) Yost and Thomas Yost, all of Marshfield; three daughters, Shirley (Robert) Wachholz of Spencer, Nancy (Joseph) Hildebrandt of Chili and Mary (Bill) Hebert of Marshfield; two brothers, Vance (Adeline) Yost of Oshkosh and Marvin (Marge) Yost of Sun City, Ariz.; one sister, Helen (Allen) Leithner of Wisconsin Rapids; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.

He was predeceased by one grandchild.

Memorials May be given in his name, and the family will designate them at a later date.
