Partridge, Elias (9 JUN 1808 - 4 NOV 1892)

Died, at the residence of his son, Charles Partridge, in Abbotsford, Wis., on Friday, Nov. 4th, 1892, of old age and general debility, Elias Partridge, in the 85th year of his age.

The deceased was born in Norwich, Vermont, June 9th, 1808. In the earlier years of his life he engaged in the business of a drover, taking stock to the Boston Market, this business he soon discontinued and moved into Canada and engaged in the lumber business for the Grand Island Co., of Grand Island, N.Y., in whose employ he continued for several years. In 1840, he was united in marriage with Miss Eliza Nellis of Erie, Pa.; the union resulting in one son. In 1875 his wife died and he removed to the states and for the past eleven years has resided with his son, at whose residence he died, and during that time has held the respect of his entire circle of acquaintances, among whom he was a general favorite.

Funeral services were held at the house, conducted by Rev. Joseph Dix, and the remains were interred in Colby Cemetery.

Do you know anything about a daughter Eliza Nellis had prior to her marriage to Elias Partridge? The child's name was Delilah, she was the daughter of Eliza (Gilmore) Nellis and John Nellis.

According to an article Delilah married H.J. Ince on October 8, 1851, in

Their daughter, Hulda (b. 8/17/1866. d. 1/5/1922, is my grandmother.
