Fradette, Augustus F. (28 Apr 1833 - 12 Dec 1910)

Augustus F. Fradette was born in Rodden Township, county of Northumberland, in the Province of Ontario, Canada, on the 28th day of April, 1833. In 1855 he was married to Miss Orvilla Hubbel of the same place. To this union two daughters were born, Mrs. O. H. Baird of this city, and Mrs. A.W. Twitchell Sr. of Chicago Lawn, Ill. In 1865 Mrs. Fradette died and in 1867 and in 1867 he was married to Miss Mary L. Fusee of Percy, Canada. To this union eight children were born, three of whom are dead.

In the fall of the same year he removed to Michigan, settling in the township of Greenwood, county of St. Clair. In 1874 he came with his family to this city (Greenwood, Clark County, Wis.), and in 1879 settled on the old homestead 1 ½ miles west of this city, where he lived with his family in peace and comfort until he moved into town in 1902.

Monday morning deceased went down town to attend to some little business affairs. On his return he complained of not feeling well, but nothing serious was thought of it. He suddenly died at 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon while sitting in his chair talking to members of the household.

The cause of death was arterial sclerosis, which had been coming on him for many years but not to his knowledge.

Mr. Fradette was a devoted husband and a kind and indulgent father; to his friends the soul of fellowship. But the greatest of all was he as a man. And as a man it is that those who knew him best most love to contemplate him. He believed in the fatherhood of God and the brother hood of man. He was always an upright Christian, a member of the M.E. Church, attending regularly up to the time of his death. He believed that the man who scatters flowers in the pathway of his fellow men, who lets into the dark places of life the sunshine of human sympathy and human happiness, is following in the footsteps of his Master.

He was buried from the M.E. Church on Thursday, Dec. 15, Rev. W.E. Marsh officiating. He leaves to mourn his death Mrs. A.W. Twitchell, Sr., and Mrs. A.W. Twitchell, Jr., of Chicago Lawn, Ill., Mrs. Ernest Burch of Toulon, Ill., H.W. Fradette of Christie, and Mrs. O. H. Baird, J.H. Fradette, and a wife, of this city.
