Alton, Viola C. (25 Feb 1857 - 5 OCT 1920)

Mrs. Viola Cordelia Alton died of infection of the gall bladder, Tuesday Oct. 5, 1920, at her home in Stevens Point. She had been confined to her bed a little over a month.

Mrs. Alton was born in Crawford, Co., Pa., Feb. 25th, 1857. When nine years of age she was brought by her mother to Wisconsin. At Tomah on Dec. 25, 1871, she was married to Michael C. Alton. Eighteen years ago they moved to Clark County, Wis., where they resided until his death in Feb. 1918. Mrs. Alton, with her daughter Ethel moved to Stevens Point a little more than a year ago. She is survived by seven children: Ethel M. at home; Alvin L. of Tomah, Wis.; Mrs. Annie Timerson, Mrs. Ida Root, and Mrs. Fern Vandeberg of the town of York, Clark Co.,; Mrs. Matilda Calkins of Exeland, Wis.; and Mrs. Viola Lawrence of Missoula, Mont. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren.

All, and especially those who knew her best, felt her kindly thoughtful regard for others, and her ever ready hand.

The remains were brought to Neillsville Friday, and the funeral was held at the Congregational Church, Rev. Longenecker officiating.
