REICH, LELAND AND ELENORA

Leland's grandparents, Rudolph and Anna Reich purchased 80 acres of land across the road west of the Romadka sawmill in 1890. Their only son, Gustave, brought his bride, Anna Kupke there in February 1900. Eight of their nine children grew up there. They built a new barn in 1906 and the present house in 1916.

Leland, the youngest took over the farm in 1939. Both of his parents lived to 82 years of age. Leland was a young boy when the railroad took up the rails on the north edge of their farm. Leland and Elenora Garbisch were married in April 1941. They have one daughter, Arlene, who is married to Guy Rocca. They have two daughters and live near Detroit, Michigan. Their son Leonard is at home and plans to take over the farm. They purchased the 52 acre Myrtie Davis farm in 1959 to add to their 80 acres.

In 1952 Leland put a new wall, all new steel and added 28 feet on the south end of the barn his father built in 1906. Then in 1962 he added 44 feet on the north end. HiD has put up three new silos and two machine sheds. The evergreen windbreak on the north and west side of the buildings was planted in the 1940's. They have registered cattle.
