Cook, Anna (25 JUN 1878 - 9 Dec 1916)

One of the saddest death of recent years in this part of Clark County, Wis. occurred Saturday, Dec. 9, 1916, when Mrs. Sam Cook departed this life at the Marshfield Hospital, where she had been taken a few days previous for an operation. Mrs. Cook, whose maiden name was Anna Hantke, was born on Pleasant Ridge, Jun 25, 1878. She grew to womanhood there, and on Nov. 28, 1899 was married to Sam Cook. They settled on a farm near by, which has been their home ever since. A model wife and mother, a helpful and kindly neighbor, as years went by, she extended the circle of friends among whom she had grown up, until at her death, her going was felt to be bereavement by many. The great gathering at her funeral testified in some measure as to the love and respect in which she was held. She leaves to mourn her death her husband and two daughters, Ella and Leah; also three brothers, Louie, Otto and Oscar Hantke, and three sisters, Mrs. Robert Kurth, Mrs. Clemens Kuechenmeister and Mrs. Emil Krueger. All are residents of this locality except Mrs. Krueger, who lives in Milwaukee. The funeral was held Tuesday at the Pleasant Ridge Church, Rev. L.B. Colman officiating.
