Neff, Lydia A. (22 SEP 1845 - 16 Jul 1917)

Mrs. Daniel Neff died very suddenly Monday night July 16, 1917 at her home on Grand Av. (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.). She had been in usual good health and about her work during the day, came up town in the afternoon and had gone to bed feeling well. Shortly after she called her granddaughter and complained of feeling ill, and immediately became unconscious, dying within a few minutes.

Mrs. Neff, whose maiden name was Lydia Ann Martin, was born in Jefferson, Jefferson Co., Wis., sept. 22, 1845, later moving to Lake Mills. She began teaching school at the age of sixteen and taught sixteen years. She was married to Daniel Neff at Lake Mills, Feb. 26, 1868, and they lived there seven years; they then moved to Clark County and bought a farm at Hutching’s Corners, where they lived till about ten years ago, when they moved to the city.

Mrs. Neff was a woman of the highest type, home loving and quiet in her tastes, but with keen intellect, and a kindly interest in all the best things of life. While she had done well her allotted work and had reached the age when life’s tasks are well nigh completed, yet she will be greatly missed in the home. She leaves her aged husband, two daughters, Mrs. Geo. L. Frantz of this city, and Mrs. Myrtle Maxwell at home, and two granddaughters, Jennie and Irene Maxwell, who are also members of the household.

The funeral will be held this Thursday (the rest of my copy was cut off)
