Goeden, William (18 Feb 1862 - 14 Feb 1918)

Wm. Goeden died at his home in this city (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.), after an illness of about two years from diabetes. He was born at Trenton, Washington Co., Wis., Feb. 18, 1862, grew up there and came to Neillsville when a young man. He returned to Washington Co. and there married Miss Helen berens, May 30, 1888. They came to Neillsville early in Jun and have lived here ever since. To them were born three children: Eddie, who died 10 years ago; Mrs. Edwin Bast and a little boy, Jerome Goeden.

For about 10 years Mr. Goeden has been engaged in cigar manufacturing. He was a very public spirited citizen, and held the office of Alderman for some time, and always took great interest in the affairs of the city. He was a good husband and father, and a fine neighbor. The deepest sympathy is felt for the bereaved wife and family.

The funeral was held Monday on the fifty-sixth birthday of the deceased at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Weber officiating.

Those from away who attended the funeral were Mrs. Mike Goeden, Mr. John Goeden, Mrs. Matt Gonrig, all of West Bend, and Mrs. Gottlieb Klopf of Milwaukee.
